This joint resolution directs the Joint Legislative Council to study and
recommend legislation providing for redistricting by an independent citizens
commission.
AJR47,1,6 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Joint
4Legislative Council shall study and recommend legislation providing that legislative
5and congressional redistricting after each decennial census will be conducted by an
6independent citizens commission; and, be it further
AJR47,1,10 7Resolved, That in the course of its study the Joint Legislative Council shall
8consider the systems in Iowa, Arizona, New Jersey, and any other states that have
9successfully redistricted using independent citizens commissions or similar
10structures; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the Joint Legislative Council shall report its findings and the
2recommended legislation to the 2005 legislature when it convenes.
