AR19,1,1 1Relating to: designating August 9, 2003, as Wisconsin National Marina Day.
AR19,1,42 Whereas, the citizens of Wisconsin place a high value on our recreation time
3and our ability to access one of America's greatest natural resources, its waterways;
4and
AR19,1,75 Whereas, in 1928, the word "marina" was used for the first time by the National
6Association of Engine and Boat Manufacturers to define a recreational boating
7facility; and
AR19,1,108 Whereas, Wisconsin is home to many recreational boating facilities that
9contribute substantially to their communities by providing a safe, reliable gateway
10to boating for members of the community and welcomed guests; and
AR19,1,1311 Whereas, Wisconsin's marinas also serve as stewards of the environment by
12protecting the surrounding waterways not only for the enjoyment of this generation,
13but for generations to come; and
AR19,2,214 Whereas, Wisconsin's marinas provide their communities and visitors to our
15state an environmentally friendly gateway to boating, where friends and families

1united by a passion for the water can come together for recreation, rest, and
2relaxation; now, therefore, be it
AR19,2,7 3Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
4designate August 9, 2003, as the first annual Wisconsin National Marina Day in
5order to honor Wisconsin's marinas for their contributions to the community and in
6order to make citizens, policy makers, and employees more aware of the overall
7contributions to their well-being; and, be it further
AR19,2,9 8Resolved, That our state joins hands with other states and thousands of
9waterfront communities all across the United States in celebrating this day.
