1To repeal assembly rule 9 (2) (bm) and (cm);
to amend assembly rule 9 (2) (c); and
2to create assembly rule 9 (2m);
relating to: election of committee officers.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under the assembly rules, the chairpersons and vice chairpersons of
committees are appointed by the speaker. The rules do not provide for secretaries
of committees. This resolution requires that each standing and special committee
elect a chairperson, vice chairperson, and secretary from among its members. It also
requires that the assembly members of every statutory legislative committee or
committee on which there are representatives to the assembly selected by the
assembly or the officers thereof elect an assembly cochairperson, vice chairperson,
and secretary from among its members who are representatives to the assembly.

7members of the minority party as nominated by the minority leader
