relating to: leasing of school

Current law permits a school board to lease school sites, buildings, and
equipment not needed for school purposes for a term not exceeding 15 years if
approved at a school board meeting. This bill eliminates the limit on the term of the
lease.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 120.13 (25) of the statutes is amended to read:

(25) Lease school property. In addition to any other authority, lease
5school sites, buildings, and equipment not needed for school purposes to any person
6for any lawful use at a reasonable rental
for a term not exceeding 15 years if approved
7at an annual or special school district meeting.

(1) This act first applies to lease agreements entered into, modified, or extended
3on the effective date of this subsection.
