SJR48,1,42 Whereas, Officer Bruce A. Williams was born on August 8, 1965, in Sparta,
3Wisconsin, and died on Sunday, October 19, 2003, in Green Lake, Wisconsin, in the
4line of duty; and
SJR48,1,6 5Whereas, Officer Williams served with distinction and honor during his 14
6years as an officer with the Green Lake County Sheriff's Department; and
SJR48,1,97 Whereas, Officer Williams graduated from Berlin High School in 1984, where
8he played on the high school football team and the high school basketball team and
9also played on the Kiwanis and Legion baseball teams; and
SJR48,1,1110 Whereas, Officer Williams graduated from the University of Wisconsin-
11Oshkosh with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1989; and
SJR48,1,13 12Whereas, Officer Williams made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of Green
13Lake County by giving his life for their protection; and
SJR48,2,2 14Whereas, Officer Williams will always be remembered for being a strong and
15caring man, a loving and devoted husband, a compassionate and involved father, a

1thoughtful son and brother, a wonderful friend, and always a remarkable deputy;
2now, therefore, be it
SJR48,2,6 3Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Green Lake County Police Officer Bruce
5A. Williams, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his
6family and friends; and, be it further
SJR48,2,12 7Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
8resolution to Officer Williams' wife, Valerie Williams of Berlin; to his daughters,
9Brianna, Kiersten, and Sydney Williams all of Berlin; to his mother and father,
10Norman and Barbara Williams of Berlin; to his brother, Michael Williams of Fort
11Atkinson; to his sisters, Nancy Williams of Berlin and Michelle Probst of Madison;
12and to his grandmother, Adeline Jones of Sparta.
