2005 - 2006 LEGISLATURE
May 2, 2006 - Introduced by Representative Kessler. Referred to Committee on
Judiciary.
AB1214,1,2 1An Act to amend 756.04 (9) of the statutes; relating to: jury lists in counties
2having a population of 500,000 or more.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Currently, the clerk of circuit court randomly selects names of persons to be on
a jury from a list provided by the Department of Transportation (DOT) from a master
list comprised of various lists of persons. This bill requires Milwaukee County to
divide the DOT list or master list into a separate list of person in each county
supervisory district. Under the bill, the clerk of court is required to randomly select
one person from each supervisory district until enough jurors are selected for the
circuit court.
For further information see the local fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
