2emergency telephone call and providing a penalty.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill prohibits a person from intentionally preventing or attempting to
prevent another from making a telephone call to the number "911" to report an
emergency. A person who violates this prohibition is guilty of a Class B misdemeanor
for which the person may be fined not more than $1,000 or confined in jail for not
more than 90 days or both.
Because this bill creates a new crime or revises a penalty for an existing crime,
the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties may be requested to prepare a
report concerning the proposed penalty and the costs or savings that are likely to
result if the bill is enacted.
For further information see the local fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
