This bill prohibits a retailer or manufacturer from offering a refund or rebate
to a buyer in this state, unless the buyer receives the refund or rebate at the time and
place of the sale.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB502, s. 1 3Section 1. 100.179 of the statutes is created to read:
AB502,1,7 4100.179 Mail-in rebates prohibited. No retailer or manufacturer may offer
5to refund or rebate to a buyer in this state all or a portion of the sale price of goods
6unless the retailer or manufacturer gives the refund or rebate to the customer at the
7time and place of the sale.
AB502, s. 2 8Section 2. Effective date.

1(1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after the
2effective date of this subsection.
AB502, s. 3 3Section 3. Initial applicability.
AB502,2,54 (1) This act first applies to sales of goods occurring on the effective date of this
5subsection.
