AB819,1,3 1An Act to amend 36.25 (21) (title); and to create 36.25 (21) (d) of the statutes;
2relating to: directing the University of Wisconsin Law School to require
3students to complete a clinical practicum.

This bill directs the University of Wisconsin Law School to require students to
successfully complete a six to eight credit clinical practicum in order to receive a
degree. The requirement first applies to students receiving a degree in 2009.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB819, s. 1 4Section 1. 36.25 (21) (title) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB819,1,55 36.25 (21) (title) School of law; part-time enrollment and night courses.
AB819, s. 2 6Section 2. 36.25 (21) (d) of the statutes is created to read:
AB819,1,87 36.25 (21) (d) Require students to successfully complete a 6 to 8 credit clinical
8practicum, in lieu of other courses, in order to receive a degree.

1Section 3. Initial applicability.
AB819,2,32 (1) This act first applies to students scheduled to receive a first professional
3degree in law in 2009.
