AJR48,1,32 Whereas, Bernard C. Ziegler was born in Milwaukee on January 2, 1922, and
3died in West Bend on May 2, 2005, at the age of 83; and
AJR48,1,64 Whereas, Bernard C. Ziegler attended West Bend High School followed by
5Dartmouth College and then Northwestern University, before joining the United
6States Navy during World War II; and
AJR48,1,97 Whereas, Bernard C. Ziegler earned the rank of first lieutenant in the United
8States Navy while serving in the South Pacific and returned in 1946 to West Bend
9to help run the family business; and
AJR48,1,1110 Whereas, he became chairman of B.C. Ziegler & Co. in 1972 and remained in
11that position until his retirement in 1992; and
AJR48,1,1512 Whereas, he was a longtime member of the University of Wisconsin Regents,
13the district chairman of the Republican Party, a member of the Green Bay Packers
14Board of Directors, and the chairman of the Ziegler Foundation, which is part of the
15West Bend Community Foundation; and

1Whereas, he was committed to donating to and supporting more than 100
2charities, including extensive help in developing the Kettle Moraine YMCA; and
AJR48,2,53 Whereas, Bernard C. Ziegler was a man of great charisma and leadership
4throughout the West Bend community for the duration of his life; now, therefore, be

AJR48,2,8 6Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
7legislature commends the life and public service of Bernard C. Ziegler, expresses
8sorrow at his death, and extends its condolences to his family and friends.
