AJR50,1,52 Whereas, Kids Voting USA is a national nonprofit, nonpartisan organization
3that teaches students about democracy and the importance of individual political
4participation by educating and actively engaging students and their families in
5voting; and
AJR50,1,86 Whereas, Kids Voting USA reaches 4.3 million students in 10,600 schools
7across 29 states, including the Wisconsin communities of Wausau, Green Bay, New
8London, Superior, Sturgeon Bay areas, and parts of Milwaukee; and
AJR50,1,109 Whereas, students have their own voting booth, adjacent to adult locations, and
10their own ballots where the media reports their results separately; and
AJR50,1,1211 Whereas, Kids Voting USA transcends all boundaries — geographic, ethnic,
12cultural, and demographic — to encourage everyone to participate; and
AJR50,1,1513 Whereas, research has confirmed the positive impact of the Kids Voting USA
14program on voting patterns and civic participation in that more 18-year olds
15properly register and participate in the next election; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature proclaim October "Wisconsin Kids Voting Month" in
3conjunction and recognition of National Kids Voting Month and encourage the
4participation of every community and media outlet to educate and engage people in
5this unique process to help ensure our future and democratic way of life.
