AJR57,1,33 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens is a native daughter of the state of Wisconsin; and
AJR57,1,44 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School; and
AJR57,1,75 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens was a 1974 graduate of Utah State University with
6a bachelor of fine arts degree in education and also received a media specialist degree
7from James Madison University in Virginia in 1983; and
AJR57,1,108 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens went on to dedicate herself to public service after
9graduation by becoming a school teacher and eventually going into law enforcement
10as a Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and
AJR57,1,1311 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens entered service as a Special Agent for the Federal
12Bureau of Investigation on October 14, 1984, and was later assigned to the Phoenix
13field office; and

1Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens served until October 5, 1985, when her life was cut
2tragically short while in the line of duty as she and fellow agents apprehended a
3suspect; and
AJR57,2,64 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens was the first female Special Agent to be killed in the
5line of duty since the Federal Bureau of Investigation began accepting female agents
6in 1972; and
AJR57,2,87 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens is memorialized in the Federal Bureau of
8Investigation's Hall of Honor; and
AJR57,2,109 Whereas, the Robin L. Ahrens FBI Building in Phoenix was dedicated in May
101986 in memory of her sacrifice; and
AJR57,2,1611 Whereas, Robin L. Ahrens' classmates from Hudson High School — Class of
121970 and the distinguished teachers from Hudson High School will be honoring the
1320th anniversary of her sacrifice by awarding her with the Hudson High School
14Distinguished Alumni Award and by establishing the "Robin L. Ahrens Memorial
15Scholarship Fund" at the Hudson High School Distinguished Alumni Award
16presentation and dinner on September 28, 2005; now, therefore, be it
AJR57,2,21 17Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin legislature proclaim that October 5, in perpetuity, be recognized and
19celebrated as Robin L. Ahrens Day in memory of Robin's sacrifice for her fellow
20citizens and in recognition of her being the first female Special Agent for the Federal
21Bureau of Investigation to lose her life in the line of duty.
