AR53,1,1 1Relating to: commending Renée Graef on her work as an illustrator.
AR53,1,32 Whereas, Renée Graef was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and grew up in
3Greendale, Wisconsin; and
AR53,1,64 Whereas, Renée attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in
5art before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she received
6her bachelor's degree in art; and
AR53,1,87 Whereas, in 1985 Renée met Pleasant Rowland, who had an idea of selling
8historical books and dolls together; and
AR53,1,109 Whereas, Renée worked on the initial presentation boards for the Pleasant
10Company, followed by the "Kirsten" books in the American Girl Collection; and
AR53,1,1311 Whereas, Renée has illustrated more than 60 books for children and worked as
12creative director for HarperCollins's "My First Little House" books by Laura Ingalls
13Wilder and illustrated many of the books in the program; and
AR53,1,1514 Whereas, Renée was thrilled with the opportunity to illustrate "B is for Badger:
15A Wisconsin Alphabet," as a way to pay tribute to our wonderful state; and

1Whereas, Renée makes her home in lovely Cedarburg, Wisconsin, with her
2husband, Tim, and their 2 children, Maggie and Max; and
AR53,2,43 Whereas, Renée is proud of her Wisconsin heritage and appreciates the beauty
4and unique culture found in our state; now, therefore, be it
AR53,2,7 5Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
6commend Renée Graef on her work as a renowned illustrator from the state of
7Wisconsin; and, be it further
AR53,2,9 8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
9to Renée Graef.
