SB514,1,4 1An Act to renumber 115.435 (title), 115.435 (1) and 115.435 (3); to renumber
2and amend
115.435 (2); to amend 20.255 (2) (ad); and to create 121.107 (2g)
3of the statutes; relating to: providing categorical aid to any school district that
4is completely surrounded by water.

Beginning in the 2006-07 school year, this bill provides $180,000 annually in
additional categorical aid to any school district that is completely surrounded by
water (the Washington Island School District).

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB514, s. 1 5Section 1. 20.255 (2) (ad) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB514,1,76 20.255 (2) (ad) Supplemental aid. The amounts in the schedule for aid to school
7districts under s. 115.435 121.107.

1Section 3. 115.435 (1) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (1) (a).
SB514, s. 4 2Section 4. 115.435 (2) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (1) (b) and
3amended to read:
SB514,2,74 121.107 (1) (b) No later than June 30 of the current school year, the department
5shall, from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad), pay each school district that
6satisfies the criteria under sub. (1) par. (a) $350 for each pupil enrolled in the school
7district in the previous school year.
SB514,2,10 8(2r) If the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad) is insufficient to pay the full
9amount under this subsection section, the funds shall be prorated among the entitled
10school districts.
SB514, s. 5 11Section 5. 115.435 (3) of the statutes is renumbered 121.107 (3).
SB514, s. 6 12Section 6. 121.107 (2g) of the statutes is created to read:
SB514,2,1513 121.107 (2g) Beginning in the 2006-07 school year, annually the department
14shall pay $180,000 to any school district that is completely surrounded by water.
15Payments shall be made from the appropriation under s. 20.255 (2) (ad).

SB514,2,2117 (1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation
18to the department of public instruction under section 20.255 (2) (ad) of the statutes,
19as affected by the acts of 2005, the dollar amount is increased by $155,000 for fiscal
20year 2006-07 to increase funding for the purposes for which the appropriation is
21made.
