SJR14,1,42 Whereas, Green Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre has announced that after
3due consideration and consultation with his family he will play in his 15th season
4in the NFL; and
SJR14,1,75 Whereas, through every season Brett Favre not only demonstrates his talent
6as one of the league's best players, but also displays an intense passion for the game,
7his teammates, and the Green Bay Packers; and
SJR14,1,88 Whereas, so far, Brett Favre: is the NFL's only 3-time MVP (1995-97); and
SJR14,1,119 Whereas, Brett Favre ranks in the NFL's top 5 in 4 major passing categories:
102nd in touchdowns (346), 4th in completions (3,960), 5th in attempts (6,464), and 5th
11in yards (45,646); and
SJR14,1,1412 Whereas, with a career record of 125-64, Brett Favre holds the 4th-highest
13winning percentage (.661) among starting quarterbacks who have begun their
14careers since the 1970 league merger (minimum 100 starts); and

1Whereas, Brett Favre possesses a remarkable 29-0 record (36-1 including
2playoffs) at home when the game-time temperature is 34 degrees or below, with a
3passer rating in those contests of 96.0; and
SJR14,2,5 4Whereas, Brett Favre has started 189 consecutive games (208 including
5playoffs), which is an NFL record for a quarterback; and
SJR14,2,106 Whereas, in 1996, Brett Favre established the "Brett Favre Forward
7Foundation," which over the past 9 years, in conjunction with his annual golf
8tournament, celebrity softball game, and fundraising dinners, has donated in excess
9of $1.5 million to charities in his home state of Mississippi as well as to those in his
10adopted state of Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
SJR14,2,17 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That in gratitude for
12Brett Favre's decision to continue to provide Wisconsin and Packer fans everywhere
13the excitement and privilege of watching another season with him with the Pack, and
14in appreciation of both his athletic accomplishments and humanitarian activities,
15the Wisconsin legislature hereby commends Brett Favre on his decision to play
16another season and declares that October 10, 2005, Brett Favre's birthday, is
17proclaimed "Brett Favre Day" in Wisconsin; and, be it further
SJR14,2,19 18Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
19resolution to Brett Favre.
