SJR22,1,1 1Relating to: the life and military service of Sergeant Andrew L. Bossert.
SJR22,1,62 Whereas, Sergeant Andrew L. "Andy" Bossert was born on October 1, 1980, in
3Lancaster, Wisconsin, and died on March 7, 2005, at a military checkpoint near
4Ramadi, Iraq, while serving with PFC Michael W. Franklin, of Coudersport,
5Pennsylvania, when a driver detonated his vehicle claiming the lives of both soldiers;
6and
SJR22,1,107 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert served with honor as a member of C Company, 44th
8Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, based at
9Camp Howze, South Korea, where he served more than 2 years before being deployed
10to Iraq in late August 2004 as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
SJR22,1,1311 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert graduated from Fountain City High School in 1999,
12and spent the following semester at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, before
13joining the army; and
SJR22,1,1514 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert was to study architecture upon the conclusion of his
15service, planning to someday build a home for his wife, Olya; and

1Whereas, Sergeant Bossert enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being in the
2company of his friends and family; and
SJR22,2,53 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert's 5 years in the United States Army were served
4with distinction and pride, and although he recognized the dangerous duties his job
5presented, he loved being a soldier, and he loved his country; and
SJR22,2,76 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert believed in the worthy cause of bringing freedom to
7the Iraqi people, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten; and
SJR22,2,108 Whereas, Sergeant Bossert will always be remembered for his outgoing
9personality, his courage, and his exemplary service as a soldier in the United States
10Army; now, therefore, be it
SJR22,2,14 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
12Wisconsin legislature honor Sergeant Andrew L. "Andy" Bossert for his noble service
13to our country and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it
14further
SJR22,2,17 15Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
16resolution to Sergeant Bossert's parents, Steven and Diane Bossert, to his brother,
17Timothy K. Bossert, to his sister, Amy L. Bossert, and to his wife, Olya Bossert.
