SJR32,1,42 Whereas, Army Captain Benjamin Donald Jansky was born on September 11,
31976, in Waukegan, Illinois, and died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in Al Taqaddum,
4Iraq, after his Humvee was accidentally struck by another military vehicle; and
SJR32,1,75 Whereas, Captain Jansky served with distinction as a mechanic for the Army
6in HHC Company, the 983rd Engineer Battalion, and assigned to the 42nd Infantry
7Division, based in Al Taqaddum, Iraq; and
SJR32,1,98 Whereas, Captain Jansky graduated from the University of
9Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1999; and
SJR32,1,1110 Whereas, Captain Jansky, while at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh,
11earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education; and
SJR32,1,1312 Whereas, Captain Jansky was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training
13Corps while a student at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh; and

1Whereas, Captain Jansky met his wife, Kate Jansky, in 1994 at the University
2of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. They were married in 1998 and settled in Oshkosh,
3Wisconsin; and
SJR32,2,54 Whereas, Captain Jansky was the loving father of 2 young daughters, Emma
5and Rayna Jansky; and
SJR32,2,76 Whereas, Captain Jansky had a great love for his Lord and was a devoted
7husband, father, son, brother, friend, and soldier; and
SJR32,2,98 Whereas, Captain Jansky made a tremendous positive influence on those who
9knew him and he was wise beyond his 28 years; and
SJR32,2,1110 Whereas, Captain Jansky made the ultimate sacrifice for his country while
11working towards freedom for the people of Iraq; and
SJR32,2,1312 Whereas, Captain Jansky was honored with the Bronze Star, the Meritorious
13Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal; and
SJR32,2,1614 Whereas, Captain Jansky will always be remembered for his loyalty and duty
15for the Army and for the cause of freedom, for his love and devotion for his family and
16friends, and he will never be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
SJR32,2,20 17Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin legislature commend the life of Captain Benjamin Donald Jansky of
19Oshkosh, Wisconsin, express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences
20to his family and friends; and, be it further
SJR32,3,2 21Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
22resolution to Captain Jansky's wife and 2 daughters, Kate, Emma, and Rayna, of
23Oshkosh, Wisconsin; his father and stepmother, Donald and Kathleen Jansky, of Fox
24Lake, Illinois; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Maureen
25Wieczorek, of Ridgeway, Wisconsin; his grandfather Richard Finch, of Florida; his

1brother Jerry Beasley of Plainfield, Illinois; and his sisters Maria Fricano of
2Mundelein, Illinois, and Amber Meltzer of Lake Villa, Illinois.
