SJR39,1,1 1Relating to: the life and military service of Sergeant Andrew L. Bossert.
SJR39,1,62 Whereas, Sergeant Andrew L. "Andy" Bossert was born on October 1, 1980, in
3Lancaster, Wisconsin, and died on March 7, 2005, at a military checkpoint near
4Ramadi, Iraq, while serving with Pfc. Michael W. Franklin, of Coudersport,
5Pennsylvania, when a driver detonated his vehicle claiming the lives of both soldiers;
6and
SJR39,1,107 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert served with honor as a member of C Company, 44th
8Engineers Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, based at
9Camp Howze, Korea, where he served more than 2 years before being deployed to
10Iraq in late August, 2004, as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom; and
SJR39,1,1311 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert graduated from Fountain City High School in 1999, and
12spent the following semester at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, before joining the
13Army; and
SJR39,1,1514 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert was to study architecture upon the conclusion of his
15service, planning to someday build a home for his wife, Olya; and

1Whereas, Sgt. Bossert enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being in the company
2of his friends and family; and
SJR39,2,53 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert's 5 years in the United States Army were served with
4distinction and pride, and, although he recognized the dangerous duties his job
5presented, he loved being a soldier and he loved his country; and
SJR39,2,76 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert believed in the worthy cause of bringing freedom to the
7Iraqi people, and his sacrifice will never be forgotten; and
SJR39,2,108 Whereas, Sgt. Bossert will always be remembered for his outgoing personality,
9his courage, and his exemplary service as a soldier in the United States Army; now,
10therefore, be it
SJR39,2,14 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
12Wisconsin legislature honor Sergeant Andrew L. "Andy" Bossert for his noble service
13to our country and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it
14further
SJR39,2,17 15Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
16resolution to Sergeant Bossert's parents, Steven and Diane Bossert, to his brother,
17Timothy Bossert, to his sister, Amy Bossert, and to his wife, Olya Bossert.
