Whereas, 10 million children under the age of 5 die annually around the world;

6been deemed preventable by leading health organizations through the use of
7existing, cost-effective solutions; and

Whereas, reaching the age of 5 significantly increases a child's chance of

Whereas, child survival is a key element of global health and is of utmost
13importance to the United States and all countries of the world; and

4Whereas, PBS will broadcast a documentary entitled "Rx for Survival - A
5Global Health Challenge" that will examine topics in global health; and

Whereas, local public broadcasting stations around the U.S., including
7Wisconsin Public Television, will spearhead an impact campaign designed to raise
8awareness of issues of global health and child survival; and

12the state of Wisconsin hereby declares the week of October 31st as Child Survival
