2lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
SJR46,1,53 Whereas, U.S. Army Specialist Eric Poelman was born on April 6, 1984, in
4Janesville, Wisconsin, and died on June 5, 2005, when an improvised explosive
5device exploded near his vehicle during action in Baghdad, Iraq; and
SJR46,1,86 Whereas, Specialist Poelman served with distinction and honor with the
7United States Army, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, out of Fort
8Carson, Colorado; and
SJR46,1,109 Whereas, Specialist Poelman was a loving husband to Renate, with whom he
10was united in marriage on May 1, 2004; and
SJR46,1,1211 Whereas, Specialist Poelman provided faithful and honorable service to the
12people of the state of Wisconsin and the people of the United States; and
SJR46,1,1313 Whereas, the people of Wisconsin mourn the death of Specialist Poelman; and
SJR46,1,1514 Whereas, Specialist Poelman was laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans
15Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Monday, June 13, 2005; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
2the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of U.S. Army Specialist
3Eric Poelman and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and
4colleagues; and, be it further
SJR46,2,9 5Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
6resolution to Specialist Poelman's wife, Renate, of Racine; his parents, Matthias and
7Sally Poelman, of Longview, Texas; his brothers, Andrew, of Milwaukee and Greg, of
8Longview, Texas; and his grandmothers, Alice Poelman, of Chicago, Illinois, and
9Beverly Entz, of Indian Trail, North Carolina.
