SR10,1,2 1Relating to: recognizing and honoring the German Marshall Fund and its
2relationship with the state of Wisconsin.
SR10,1,43 Whereas, the German Marshall Fund was founded in 1972 through a gift from
4Germany as a permanent memorial to Marshall Plan assistance; and
SR10,1,85 Whereas, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) is a
6nonpartisan American public policy and grant-making institution dedicated to
7promoting greater cooperation and understanding between the United States and
8Europe by supporting a number of initiatives to strengthen democracies; and
SR10,1,129 Whereas, Wisconsin's relationship with GMF was fostered and begun in 1996
10by Wisconsin's former United States Congressman Scott Klug and continued by
11Senate Majority Leader Schultz by inviting and hosting European Fellows of the
12program in the state; and
SR10,1,1513 Whereas, the European Fellows embark on a month-long tour of the United
14States, with the state of Wisconsin chosen for the last 9 years to represent American
15agriculture; and

1Whereas, Majority Leader Schultz and Minority Leader Robson continue to
2promote in a bipartisan fashion international good will and business relationships
3on behalf of Wisconsin; and
SR10,2,54 Whereas, the 5 GMF 2005 European Fellows are here today as a part of their
5American tour; now, therefore, be it
SR10,2,14 6Resolved by the senate, That the members of the Wisconsin senate hereby
7honors Mr. Martin Hermann, Deputy Head of Mission, 1st Secretary of the Embassy
8of Denmark; Mr. Martin Kovacic, Media Consultant to Areoconsult of Slovakia; Ms.
9Margarita Pournara, Arts Correspondent to Katimerini Newspaper of Greece; Ms.
10Doina Voicu, Project Coordinator to EuroEd Foundation of Romania; and Ms.
11Christiane Zerfass, Head of Strategic Planning for German Confederation of Trade
12Unions, and thanks them for their dedication to understanding the state's diverse
13agricultural industry and in establishing closer relationships with the citizens of
14Wisconsin; and, be further
SR10,2,16 15Resolved by the senate, That the members of the Wisconsin senate declares
16today "German Marshall Fund Day" in the state of Wisconsin.
