AB130,1,3 1An Act to amend 29.194 (1) (title); and to create 29.194 (1) (c) of the statutes;
2relating to: issuing hunting approvals to members of the Wisconsin national
3guard.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) must consider
a nonresident to be a resident of this state for the purpose of being issued a hunting,
noncommercial fishing, or trapping approval if the person exhibits proof that he or
she is in active service in the U.S. armed forces and he or she is stationed in this state.
Under current law, nonresidents of this state may be members of the Wisconsin
national guard. Under this bill, DNR must consider a nonresident to be a resident
of this state for the purpose of being issued a hunting approval if the person exhibits
proof that he or she is a member of the Wisconsin national guard.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB130, s. 1 4Section 1. 29.194 (1) (title) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB130,1,65 29.194 (1) (title) Certain resident licenses may be issued to students and
6members of the armed forces military force members.

1Section 2. 29.194 (1) (c) of the statutes is created to read:
AB130,2,52 29.194 (1) (c) If a person who is not a resident exhibits proof that he or she is
3a member of the Wisconsin national guard, the department shall treat the person as
4a resident for purposes of determining the person's eligibility for and cost of obtaining
5a hunting approval under this subchapter.
AB130, s. 3 6Section 3. Effective date.
AB130,2,87 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 3rd month beginning after
8publication.
