AB175,1,3 1An Act to create 40.02 (39u) and 40.08 (2e) of the statutes; relating to:
2deduction of membership dues from retirement annuities under the Wisconsin
3Retirement System.

Wisconsin Retirement System annuitants may not currently authorize the
Department of Employee Trust Funds (DETF) to deduct from their retirement
annuities any membership dues to a labor organization, professional organization,
or a retiree organization affiliated with a labor organization or professional
organization. This bill authorizes DETF to make such deductions.
Because this bill relates to public employee retirement or pensions, it may be
referred to the Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems for a report to be
printed as an appendix to the bill.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB175, s. 1 4Section 1. 40.02 (39u) of the statutes is created to read:
AB175,1,65 40.02 (39u) "Labor organization" means a labor organization, as defined in s.
6111.70 (1) (h) or 111.81 (12).

1Section 2. 40.08 (2e) of the statutes is created to read:
AB175,2,62 40.08 (2e) Membership dues deductions. Subject to rules promulgated under
3s. 40.03 (2) (i), an annuitant may authorize the department to deduct from the
4annuitant's retirement annuity any membership dues to a professional organization,
5a labor organization, or a retiree organization that is affiliated with a professional
6organization or a labor organization.
