AB188,1,2 1An Act to create 230.38 of the statutes; relating to: removing certain written
2or electronic documents from state government offices.

This bill provides that no state employee may remove from a state government
office a written or electronic document containing the social security number of any
person, unless the employee's duties require that the employee have the document
in his or her possession outside of the office. If an employee's duties require that the
employee have the document in his or her possession outside of the office, the
employee may only remove the document from the office to carry out that duty. The
employee must return the document to the office as soon as practicable upon
completion of the duty.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB188, s. 1 3Section 1. 230.38 of the statutes is created to read:
AB188,2,6 4230.38 Removing documents containing social security numbers from
