AB496,1,2 1An Act to create 66.0145 of the statutes; relating to: limiting the searchability
2of a governmental Internet listing of property taxes assessed.

Under this bill, if a taxation district (district) maintains an Internet listing of
property taxes assessed by the district and if the listing contains the name of a
property owner whose property is assessed, the listing may not be searchable, by
name, by members of the general public. Such an Internet listing may contain the
property taxes assessed by the district for each parcel number or street address
within the jurisdiction.
The bill also specifically authorizes a district to maintain records in its offices
that contain the property taxes assessed by the district for each parcel number or
street address within the jurisdiction, and these office records may also contain the
name of the property owner.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB496, s. 1 3Section 1. 66.0145 of the statutes is created to read:
AB496,2,4 466.0145 Listing of property tax assessments. (1) If a taxation district
5maintains an Internet listing of property taxes assessed within its jurisdiction and

1if that listing contains the name of the property owner against whom the assessment
2is made, the Internet listing may not be searchable, by name, by members of the
3general public. The Internet listing may contain the amount of property taxes
4assessed for each parcel number or street address within the jurisdiction.
AB496,2,7 5(2) A taxation district may maintain records in the taxation district's offices
6that contain a list of property taxes assessed by the taxation district for each parcel
7number or street address, and such a listing may include the property owner's name.

AB496,2,109 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 3rd month beginning after
10publication.
