Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America celebrate over 98 years of existence in the

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America mission is to prepare young people to make
10ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling the values of the Scout

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America make a direct and positive impact on
13communities by teaching the principles of American social, economic, and
14governmental systems, along with the values that encourage leadership; and

1Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America are one of the largest voluntary youth
2movements in the United States, with loyal Americans participating in all 50 states;

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America membership is 4,619,730 with 51,077
5packs, 42,269 troops, 8,264 teams, 19,920 crews, and 1,190,992 adult volunteers
6nationwide; and

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America in Wisconsin have 12 Councils, 23,620
8adult leaders, 40,660 Cub Scouts, 17,311 Boy Scouts, and 4,173 Venturing
9participants; and

Whereas, the Boy Scouts of America contribute outstanding contributions to
11the state of Wisconsin, amassing 121,794 service hours during 2007; now, therefore,

13Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
14Wisconsin legislature express support for the Boys Scouts of America and the values
15instilled through the Scout Oath and Law; and, be it further

16Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature encourage all
17citizens and organizations in the state to recognize the importance of the Boy Scouts
18of America, and to support the cherished tradition of Boy Scouts of America; and, be

20Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
21resolution to the Boy Scouts of America in the great state of Wisconsin.
