AJR45,1,53 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin (UW) System is one of the nation's
4foremost public university systems, with 26 campuses, a statewide UW-Extension,
5and more than 160,000 students and 30,000 employees; and
AJR45,1,96 Whereas, a critical component of the "Wisconsin Idea" philosophy that guides
7UW System campuses is a pursuit of research to develop knowledge, to improve the
8quality of life, and to apply these findings to advance Wisconsin's and the nation's
9economy; and
AJR45,1,1210 Whereas, UW graduates under faculty guidance at every institution are
11annually expanding the breadth of their contributions to this intellectual
12productivity that is critical to Wisconsin's future; and
AJR45,2,213 Whereas, over 100 undergraduate research projects, reflective of a host of
14academic disciplines, will be displayed in the rotunda of the Wisconsin capitol on

1Wednesday, April 18, during "Posters in the Rotunda: A Celebration of
2Undergraduate Research"; and
AJR45,2,53 Whereas, each UW System campus conducts an undergraduate research,
4scholarly, and creative activity day on its campus, and UW-Stout will host a
5System-wide undergraduate research symposium on April 20; and
AJR45,2,86 Whereas, the posters in the capitol rotunda illustrate the remarkable
7contributions made by our undergraduate students to address issues of critical
8concern to Wisconsin and to our nation; now, therefore, be it
AJR45,2,11 9Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That on Undergraduate
10Research Day, April 18, 2007, the legislature commends the students, faculty, staff,
11and University of Wisconsin System campuses for their undergraduate research.
