2Army National Guard, who lost his life during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
AJR72,1,53 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Robert J. Basham of the Wisconsin Army National
4Guard was born on May 4, 1984, and died of injuries sustained at Camp As Sayliyah
5in Doha, Qatar, on April 14, 2007; and
AJR72,1,116 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Basham was a member of Headquarters Battery, 1st
7Battalion, 126th Field Artillery of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, and was
8mobilized in 2005 for a year of overseas service in Kuwait with Company D, 2nd
9Battalion, 128th Infantry. When his unit returned home, Basham volunteered for
10another tour of duty, joining a Kansas National Guard unit whose mission was in
11Iraq; and
AJR72,1,1512 Whereas, Staff Sergeant Basham had a passion for military service since early
13childhood and it was this passion that drew him to the Wisconsin Army National
14Guard, where he provided faithful and honorable service to the people of the state
15of Wisconsin and the people of the United States; and

1Whereas, Staff Sergeant Basham, son of Mitchell and Nora Basham of
2Kenosha, and brother to Brian, Christopher, and Jennifer Basham, was a 2002
3graduate of the Kenosha Military Academy in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he was a
4Cadet Battalion Commander, and served on the Color Guard, Rifle Team, and
5Raider's Team; now, therefore, be it
AJR72,2,9 6Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature of
7the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Staff Sergeant Robert
8J. Basham, mourns his death, and extends its deepest sympathies to his family,
9friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
AJR72,2,11 10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
11resolution to his parents, Mitchell and Nora Basham.
