AJR77,1,32 Whereas, Richard B. Nowakowski was born on January 4, 1921, in Milwaukee,
3Wisconsin, and died on October 28, 2007; and
AJR77,1,54 Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski was educated in SS. Cyril and Methodius Parochial
5School and South Division High School; and
AJR77,1,76 Whereas, he served in World War II from October 1942 to March 1946 serving
7in the Army in an anti-tank unit in France and Germany; and
AJR77,1,88 Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski married Patricia Foren; and
AJR77,1,99 Whereas, he earned Ph. B. and LL.B. degrees from Marquette University; and
AJR77,1,1110 Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in 1952,
11serving in the 1953 and 1955 sessions; and
AJR77,1,1312 Whereas, Mr. Nowakowski served Milwaukee City Common Council from 1950
13to 1952 and again from 1956 to 1968; and
AJR77,2,314 Whereas, after leaving the assembly, Mr. Nowakowski stayed involved in local
15civic life, serving stints with the Milwaukee Harbor Commission, the Milwaukee

1County Planning Commission, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, and
2the Milwaukee Exposition and Convention Center and Arena Board; now, therefore,

AJR77,2,7 4Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
5Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Richard B.
6Nowakowski contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his
7death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR77,2,11 8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
9resolution to Mr. Nowakowski's wife, Patricia; daughters, Joanne Clark, Louise
10Esworthy, Janet Luberda, Kathleen Markwiese, and Linda Winter; and sons,
11Kenneth Nowakowski and Paul Nowakowski.
