AJR8,1,32 Whereas, Robert L. Quackenbush was born on November 15, 1923, in Sparta,
3Wisconsin, and died on October 6, 2006; and
AJR8,1,54 Whereas, he was a 1941 graduate of Sparta High School and earned a B.A.
5degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1950; and
AJR8,1,76 Whereas, Robert served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 to
71946 during World War II; and
AJR8,1,98 Whereas, Robert married Avis Morrison on November 22, 1951 and was the
9father of three children; and
AJR8,1,1110 Whereas, Robert worked for Monroe County Human Services and taught at the
11Tomah High School; and
AJR8,1,1412 Whereas, Robert Quackenbush was first elected in 1970 to represent the 92nd
13Assembly district in the state legislature and served in the 1971 through 1983
14sessions; and

1Whereas, during his retirement he volunteered numerous hours to the Sparta
2Free Library and enjoyed his many hobbies; now, therefore, be it
AJR8,2,6 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Robert L.
5Quackenbush contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at
6his death, and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR8,2,10 7Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
8resolution to Mr. Quackenbush's wife, Avis of Sparta; his son, Mark Quackenbush of
9Denver, Colorado; and his daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Quackenbush of New York, New
10York, and Julia Schmick of Sparta.
