2007 Assembly RESOLUTION 6

March 1, 2007 - Introduced by Representatives Huebsch, J. Fitzgerald and Kreuser.

AR6,1,3 Relating to: recognition of assembly chief clerk staff, Jody Nussbaum, on the occasion of her retirement from 32 years of faithful service to the Wisconsin state assembly.

AR6,1,5 Whereas, Jody Nussbaum began her career with the Wisconsin legislature on October 13, 1972; and

AR6,1,8 Whereas, Jody's job titles changed many times over the years, but she has been up at the front desk in the assembly chamber every year, for 17 complete assembly sessions; and

AR6,1,11 Whereas, including, but not limited to, New Year's Day in 1973 which was Inauguration Day, Jody's first session day, and one that happened to last until midnight; and

AR6,1,13 Whereas, not to exclude, coming in costume on a session day which fell on Halloween, whereby Jody appeared as Marge Simpson, bright blue hair and all; and

AR6,1,15 Whereas, Jody was present before, during, and after the process of computer automation at the front desk; and

AR6,2,2 Whereas, Jody worked both the legislative and business sides of the chief clerk's office, mentoring and training numerous staff throughout the years; and

AR6,2,5 Whereas, there was a brief hiatus in Jody's legislative career to become a domestic engineer when her family moved to Green Bay, but she still worked as an LTE, commuting from Green Bay to fill in as journal clerk at the front desk; and

AR6,2,7 Whereas, Jody has been at the front desk for 18 Inauguration days, working under 10 chief clerks and 11 speakers, and knew many people at the Capitol; and

AR6,2,9 Whereas, Jody's roots began in Madison, Wisconsin, whereby she was one of 11 children; and

AR6,2,11 Whereas, Jody married Dennis Nussbaum in April 1975 and had two children, Sara and Megan, and two grandchildren, Brett and Cole; and

AR6,2,14 Whereas, Jody was actively involved in Girl Scouts for many years, participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County taking the role as a Big Sister, and is known to some as a skillful seamstress; and

AR6,2,16 Whereas, it is expected that retirement will afford Jody more time to be with her family and grandchildren; now, therefore be it further

AR6,2,19 Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly, express sincere thanks to Jody Nussbaum for her years of service in the assembly chief clerk's office and wish her well in her new chapter of life; and, be it further

AR6,2,21 Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk, in the presence of the members of the assembly, shall present a copy of this resolution to Jody Nussbaum.
