SJR14,1,53 Whereas, Matthew was born on October 7, 1985, in Wisconsin Rapids,
4Wisconsin, and died on January 15, 2007, of injuries sustained from enemy action
5in Mosul, Iraq; and
SJR14,1,76 Whereas, Matthew has a brother, Andrew, currently on active duty with the
7National Guard in Iraq; and
SJR14,1,108 Whereas, Matthew was a 2004 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin
9Rapids where he played football, wrestled, and dabbled in weightlifting, and enlisted
10in the Army in 2004; and
SJR14,1,1411 Whereas, Matthew served with distinction in 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry
12Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Bliss, Texas, where
13he was a M1A1 Armor Crewman, MOS 19K, and was in his first tour of duty in Iraq;
14and

1Whereas, Matthew's family and fellow citizens are very proud of him and know
2that he died doing what he wanted to do: serving the nation and fighting for freedom;
3and
SJR14,2,64 Whereas, Matthew embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect,
5selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage and he will be sorely missed;
6now, therefore, be it
SJR14,2,10 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
8the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Matthew Grimm and
9extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it
10further
SJR14,2,13 11Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
12resolution to Matthew's parents Eldon and Jean Grimm and to his brother Andrew
13Grimm.
