SJR23,1,84 Whereas, Jolene Anderson was born on July 22, 1986; grew up in Port Wing,
5Wisconsin; and attended South Shore High School, where she was a three-sport
6athlete in basketball, track, and volleyball, and in basketball was named the state
7of Wisconsin's all-time leading scorer as a senior and led her team to the WIAA State
8Division 4 final; and
SJR23,1,129 Whereas, as a high school junior, Jolene Anderson was recruited by many top
10colleges, but she committed to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to further her
11basketball and academic career, over final considerations for Minnesota and
12Marquette; and
SJR23,2,213 Whereas, in her rookie year, Jolene Anderson was named University of
14Wisconsin-Madison's leading scorer, was a leader in rebounds and assists, was

1named 2005 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was the third-highest scoring freshman
2in the nation, and won a gold medal as a member of the USA U19 team; and
SJR23,2,73 Whereas, in 2006, Jolene Anderson returned in her sophomore season to be
4named second team All-Big Ten by Big-Ten coaches and the media, became the
5University of Wisconsin's first player, male or female, to score 1,000 points by her
657th career game, led the University of Wisconsin-Madison in rebounding, and
7earned a second USA team gold with the USA U20 team; and
SJR23,2,128 Whereas, now in her junior year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
9Jolene Anderson has been named first team All-Big Ten by Big Ten coaches and
10media panels, she continues to lead the Badgers in scoring and rebounding, and she
11is only the ninth player in the history of the University of Wisconsin program to be
12named to the Big Ten's first team; and
SJR23,2,1613 Whereas, Jolene Anderson is a great asset to the University of
14Wisconsin-Madison women's basketball team and a promising contributor to
15another season in the future of University of Wisconsin basketball; now, therefore,

SJR23,2,19 17Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
18Wisconsin legislature salute Jolene Anderson for her many achievements in the
19game of basketball.
