SJR51,1,43 Whereas, Mr. Jeff Nania of Portage, Wisconsin, serves as executive director for
4the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association; and
SJR51,1,75 Whereas, Mr. Nania began his service with the Wisconsin Waterfowl
6Association in 1993 as its project director and in 14 years he has led wetland
7restoration projects in more than 200 locations statewide; and
SJR51,1,118 Whereas, in 1996, Mr. Nania launched Outdoor Adventure Days, an interactive
9outdoor classroom that has provided more than 7,000 Wisconsin youth with
10interactive outdoor classroom experiences, strengthening their connection with and
11appreciation for our natural resources; and
SJR51,2,212 Whereas, in 2002, Mr. Nania helped found River Crossing Environmental
13Charter School, a nationally recognized school for grades 7 and 8 to inculcate a
14passion and knowledge for future generations of conservationists and wetland

1restoration leaders in Wisconsin, and Mr. Nania continues to teach students there
2as they plan and implement restoration projects; and
SJR51,2,63 Whereas, Mr. Nania has worked with hundreds of landowners and natural
4resource professionals, teaching wetland restoration practices, he has led thousands
5of school children in restoration activities, and he works actively with state and
6federal legislators to advance wetland conservation public policy; and
SJR51,2,137 Whereas, Mr. Nania's extraordinary effort, innovation, and excellence in
8wetland conservation, research, and education, has led to his recognition as one of
96 recipients of the 2007 National Wetlands Award by the Environmental Law
10Institute, on behalf of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Highway
11Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA Forest Service, USDA
12Natural Resources Conservation Service, NOAA Fisheries, and the US Army Corps
13of Engineers; now, therefore, be it
SJR51,2,16 14Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
15legislature congratulates Jeff Nania on the occasion of his national recognition for
16leadership in wetland restoration; and, be it further
SJR51,2,21 17Resolved, That the Wisconsin legislature commends Jeff Nania for his
18leadership as an advocate for wetland restoration in the state, his direct role to
19restore thousands of acres of Wisconsin wetlands, and for providing a role model to
20inculcate a passion for natural resource conservation in Wisconsin youth; and, be it
21further
SJR51,2,23 22Resolved, That that the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
23resolution to Mr. Nania.
