2System campuses on Undergraduate Research Day.
SJR90,1,53 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin (UW) System is one of the nation's
4foremost public university systems, with 26 campuses, a statewide UW-Extension,
5and more than 170,000 students and 30,000 employees; and
SJR90,1,96 Whereas, a critical component of the "Wisconsin Idea" philosophy that guides
7UW System campuses is a pursuit of research to develop new knowledge, to improve
8the quality of life, and to apply these findings to advance Wisconsin's and the nation's
9economy; and
SJR90,1,1210 Whereas, UW undergraduates, under faculty guidance at every institution,
11annually expand the breadth of their contribution to this intellectual productivity
12that is critical to Wisconsin's future; and
SJR90,2,213 Whereas, in recognition of the value of this intellectual productivity, over 80
14undergraduate research projects, reflective of a host of academic disciplines, will be

1displayed in the rotunda of Wisconsin's state capitol on Wednesday, March 5, during
2"Posters in the Rotunda: A Celebration of Undergraduate Research"; and
SJR90,2,53 Whereas, each UW System campus conducts an undergraduate research,
4scholarly, and creative activity day with UW-River Falls hosting a System-wide
5undergraduate research symposium on April 25; and
SJR90,2,86 Whereas, the posters illustrate the remarkable contributions made by our
7undergraduate students to address issues of critical concern to Wisconsin and to our
8nation; now, therefore, be it
SJR90,2,12 9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
10legislature commends the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Wisconsin
11System campuses for their undergraduate research on Undergraduate Research
12Day, March 5, 2008.
