2007 Senate JOINT RESOLUTION 98

SJR98,1,2 Relating to: commending Mayor Theresa M. Estness on her career and service to the citizens of Wisconsin.

SJR98,1,5 Whereas, Mayor Theresa Estness of Wauwatosa has served her community as mayor since 2000 and was an alderwoman for ten years before her election to that office; and

SJR98,1,8 Whereas, during Mayor Estness's tenure as mayor, Wauwatosa has had large economic growth and prosperity, has become one of the leading business centers in Wisconsin, and has attracted large employers to the city; and

SJR98,1,12 Whereas, Mayor Estness has always confronted the challenges that Wauwatosa faces in an effective, pragmatic way that represents the mindset of her community, whether those issues be economic development, crime, or the administration of city government; and

SJR98,2,2 Whereas, Mayor Estness worked to preserve Wauwatosa's historic character, its neighborhoods, village business district, its parks and green spaces, maintained and developed the strength of Mayfair Mall as a premier Wisconsin retail center, and was a strong leader in recovering from natural disaster and prevention of further flood damage; and

SJR98,2,6 Whereas, Mayor Estness will be stepping down after eight years as the mayor of Wauwatosa, and 18 total years in city government in Wauwatosa, leaving Wauwatosa a much better and successful community than when she was first elected; and

SJR98,2,9 Whereas, throughout her career, Mayor Estness has conducted herself with integrity, dignity, and professionalism, and served Wauwatosa with honor and distinction; now, therefore, be it

SJR98,2,12 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend Mayor Theresa Estness on her career, dedication, accomplishments, and service to the citizens of Wisconsin; and be it further

SJR98,2,14 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Mayor Theresa Estness.
