AB602,1,2 1An Act to amend 60.55 (1) (a) (intro.); and to create 60.10 (1) (h) of the statutes;
2relating to: designation of the manner of providing fire protection for a town.

Under current law, a town board is required to provide for fire protection for the
town. Fire protection for the town, or any portion of the town, may be provided in
any manner, including: establishing a town fire department, joining with another
municipality to establish a joint fire department, contracting with another person,
or utilizing a fire company.
Under this bill, a town meeting may designate the manner of providing fire
protection for the town, or any portion of the town. If the town meeting designates
a manner for providing fire protection for the town, or any portion of the town, the
town board is required to provide fire protection in that manner.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB602, s. 1 3Section 1. 60.10 (1) (h) of the statutes is created to read:
AB602,1,64 60.10 (1) (h) Manner of providing fire protection. Designate the manner of
5providing fire protection for the town, or any portion of the town, including a manner
6specified in s. 60.55 (1) (a).

1Section 2. 60.55 (1) (a) (intro.) of the statutes is amended to read:
