2Historical Society on its 60th anniversary.
AJR128,1,53 Whereas, in 1950, an enthusiastic and dynamic woman, Ruth DeYoung Kohler,
4had a strong belief in historic preservation and felt the need to instill interest in the
5cultural heritage of Wisconsin; and
AJR128,1,76 Whereas, Ruth DeYoung Kohler organized the Woman's Auxiliary of the State
7Historical Society of Wisconsin; and
AJR128,1,9 8Whereas, the Woman's Auxiliary eventually became known under its current
9name, the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society; and
AJR128,1,13 10Whereas, for the past 60 years, this organization of dedicated volunteers has
11been a valued partner of the Wisconsin Historical Society in the preservation,
12advancement, and dissemination of information relevant to Wisconsin's proud
13history; and
AJR128,2,2 14Whereas, the men and women of this independent volunteer organization have
15generously supplemented the activities of the Wisconsin Historical Society at a

1significant cost savings to Wisconsin taxpayers and have enhanced the lives of
2residents throughout the state; now, therefore, be it
AJR128,2,7 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
4legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend past and present members of the
5Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society on its 60th anniversary, and also
6commend that organization for its commitment to service on behalf of the people of
7Wisconsin; and, be it further
AJR128,2,9 8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
9resolution to the Friends of the Wisconsin Historical Society.
