AJR13,1,32 Whereas, John A. Volk was born on September 28, 1915, in the Town of
3Freedom, Wisconsin, and died on November 23, 2008, in Blackwell, Wisconsin; and
AJR13,1,54 Whereas, John A. Volk attended school in Wabeno and graduated from Wabeno
5High School in 1932; and
AJR13,1,66 Whereas, John A. Volk married Alice Sickler in 1940; and
AJR13,1,87 Whereas, John A. Volk served on the Freedom Town Board and Forest County
8Board in the late 1940s and on the Wabeno School Board from 1952 to 1975; and
AJR13,1,109 Whereas, John A. Volk was elected to the Wisconsin assembly in a special
10election in June of 1983, serving in the 1983 through 1989 sessions; and
AJR13,1,1511 Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature, Mr. Volk was chair of the Rural
12Development and Forestry Committee in the 1989 session, vice-chair of the
13Education Committee in the 1985 session, and co-chair of the Joint Survey
14Committee on Retirement Systems in the 1985 and 1989 sessions; now, therefore, be

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that John A. Volk
3contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and
4extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR13,2,6 5Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
6resolution to Mr. Volk's wife, Alice.
