Whereas, Frank H. Urban, M.D. was born on May 24, 1930, in St. Louis,
3Missouri, and died on October 25, 2008, while traveling in Egypt; and

Whereas, Dr. Urban graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1947, and
5earned a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1951, an M.D.
6degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1954, and an M.S. degree from
7the University of Minnesota in 1960; and

Whereas, Dr. Urban served in the Army during the Korean Conflict; and

Whereas, Dr. Urban married Lois Thurwachter in June 1954, who preceded
10him in death in 1991 after 37 years of marriage; and

Whereas, Dr. Urban married Kathryn Bloomberg in 1992; and

Whereas, Dr. Urban held various leadership positions in medicine, including
13President of the Milwaukee County Medical Society and the Wisconsin Dermatologic
14Society; and

1Whereas, Dr. Urban began his political career by serving as a trustee on the Elm
2Grove village board from 1985 to 1987 and as village president from 1987 to 1989;

Whereas, Dr. Urban was first elected to the Wisconsin assembly in a September
51989 special election, serving in the 1989 through 2001 sessions; now, therefore, be

7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Dr. Frank H. Urban
9contributed to this state and his community, express their sorrow at his death, and
10extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

11Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
12resolution to Dr. Frank H. Urban's wife, Kathryn Bloomberg, of Brookfield,
13Wisconsin.
