AJR35,1,3 Relating to: commending the Gundersen Lutheran Health System on being recognized as the first medical facility in the nation to achieve a top rating from the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers.

AJR35,1,5 Whereas, breast cancer is the second-most prevalent cancer in the world and the fifth-most common cause of cancer death; and

AJR35,1,7 Whereas, when detected, confined, and treated early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent; and

AJR35,1,10 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran's Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care has become a national leader in the measurement of breast cancer treatment and outcomes; and

AJR35,1,13 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran is one of only two organizations in the country with every available accreditation for the full scope of breast care, diagnosis, and treatment from the American College of Radiology; and

AJR35,2,3 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran is the first medical center in the United States to be recognized as a "Certified Quality Center of Excellence" by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program; and

AJR35,2,9 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran's compassionate, specialized, and coordinated approach to providing prompt breast cancer diagnosis and streamlined pathways of treatment has made it a national model for breast care and has led to its recognition as the first and only medical center in the United States to earn the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program's highest distinction from among 400 breast care centers; now, therefore, be it

AJR35,2,12 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin legislature commends Gundersen Lutheran on the occasion of its national recognition as a leader in breast care; and

AJR35,2,17 Be it further resolved, That the Wisconsin legislature commends Gundersen Lutheran for its leadership as a nationally acclaimed breast care center, its commitment to providing the highest level of quality breast health care, and its dedication to making the Gundersen Lutheran Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care even better in the future; and

AJR35,2,19 Be it further resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint resolution to Gundersen Lutheran.
