2recognized as the first medical facility in the nation to achieve a top rating from
3the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers.
AJR35,1,54 Whereas, breast cancer is the second-most prevalent cancer in the world and
5the fifth-most common cause of cancer death; and
AJR35,1,76 Whereas, when detected, confined, and treated early, the five-year survival
7rate is 98 percent; and
AJR35,1,108 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran's Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast Care has
9become a national leader in the measurement of breast cancer treatment and
10outcomes; and
AJR35,1,1311 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran is one of only two organizations in the country
12with every available accreditation for the full scope of breast care, diagnosis, and
13treatment from the American College of Radiology; and

1Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran is the first medical center in the United States
2to be recognized as a "Certified Quality Center of Excellence" by the National Quality
3Measures for Breast Centers Program; and
AJR35,2,94 Whereas, Gundersen Lutheran's compassionate, specialized, and coordinated
5approach to providing prompt breast cancer diagnosis and streamlined pathways of
6treatment has made it a national model for breast care and has led to its recognition
7as the first and only medical center in the United States to earn the National Quality
8Measures for Breast Centers Program's highest distinction from among 400 breast
9care centers; now, therefore, be it
AJR35,2,12 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
11legislature commends Gundersen Lutheran on the occasion of its national
12recognition as a leader in breast care; and
AJR35,2,17 13Be it further resolved, That the Wisconsin legislature commends Gundersen
14Lutheran for its leadership as a nationally acclaimed breast care center, its
15commitment to providing the highest level of quality breast health care, and its
16dedication to making the Gundersen Lutheran Norma J. Vinger Center for Breast
17Care even better in the future; and
AJR35,2,19 18Be it further resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of
19this joint resolution to Gundersen Lutheran.
