Whereas, Sande Robinson, Director of the Equal Opportunity Program at
3Marquette University, began her career at Marquette University in 1974 as a
4financial aid counselor in the Equal Opportunity Program, a program which assists
5low-income and first-generation college students in obtaining a college degree; and

Whereas, Sande Robinson continues to counsel undergraduate students since
7she became the director of the Equal Opportunity Program in 1986; and

Whereas, Sande Robinson has served as the president of the Wisconsin
9Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel, and is a member of the
10Friends of the Haggerty Museum Board and the Diversity Task Force; and

Whereas, Sande Robinson has successfully secured federal funding for the
12Equal Opportunity Program throughout its history; and

Whereas, she has been active on the national level in presenting models of
14support program innovation and has also been a reader of grant applications for the
15U.S. Department of Education Student Support Services grant competition; and

1Whereas, Sande Robinson has been an integral part of closing the gap between
2the number of low-income students who earn college degrees and their
3middle-income counterparts; and

Whereas, Sande Robinson will retire in June 2010 after 35 years of service to
5Marquette University; now, therefore, be it

6Resolved by the assembly, That members of the Wisconsin legislature honor
7Sande Robinson for her leadership and commitment to the students at Marquette
8University and for paving the way for many students to have the opportunity to
9pursue a higher education; and, be it further

10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
11to Sande Robinson.
