2011 - 2012 LEGISLATURE
December 20, 2011 - Introduced by Representatives E. Coggs, Berceau and Young,
cosponsored by Senators S. Coggs and Taylor. Referred to Committee on
Transportation.
AB435,1,3 1An Act to create 110.08 (5) (c) of the statutes; relating to: services of the
2Department of Transportation relating to operator's licenses and identification
3cards.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, as created in 2011 Wisconsin Act 32 (the Biennial Budget
Act), the Department of Transportation (DOT) must provide in each county, directly
or by contract, at least 20 hours per week of services relating to operator's licenses
and identification cards. DOT must provide these services by the most cost-effective
means possible, which may include contracting with counties or other local
governments to provide these services.
This bill requires DOT to collaborate with the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, American Civil Liberties Union, and UMOS in
Milwaukee County to establish community outreach locations where DOT provides
services relating to operator's licenses and identification cards.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
