AJR72,1,32 Whereas, more than 2.8 million women and girls live in the state of Wisconsin;
3and
AJR72,1,54 Whereas, Wisconsin recognizes the unique health needs of women in all phases
5of their lives; and
AJR72,1,96 Whereas, access to comprehensive reproductive health care — including
7colposcopies, Pap smears, mammograms, treatment for sexually transmitted
8infections, and birth control — is critical to the overall well-being of women and their
9families; and
AJR72,1,1210 Whereas, women's health care providers have saved countless lives by
11preventing and treating life-threatening diseases including breast, cervical, and
12ovarian cancers, and HIV-AIDS; and
AJR72,1,1513 Whereas, family planning is recognized by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
14and Prevention (CDC) as one of the top ten public health achievements of the 20th
15century; and

1Whereas, the state of Wisconsin values the many licensed health care
2professionals who provide this basic care in a compassionate setting, at times under
3threat of violence; now, therefore, be it
AJR72,2,7 4Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
5Wisconsin legislature strongly support comprehensive women's health care
6providers in their unique, positive contributions to the individual lives of women,
7men, and children, both before and after birth; and, be it further
AJR72,2,11 8Resolved, That the Wisconsin legislature recognizes, commends, and is
9grateful for the arduous, compassionate, and sometimes dangerous work of
10thousands of staff and volunteers in comprehensive women's health centers across
11Wisconsin and the United States; and, be it further
AJR72,2,15 12Resolved, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature proclaim October
132011 as Comprehensive Women's Health Month across the state of Wisconsin, and
14commend this observance to all of its citizens, recognizing that women in our state
15deserve the best health care available especially in dire economic times such as these.
