AJR75,1,53 Whereas, the incidence of neuroendocrine tumors, difficult to detect and
4diagnose, is on the rise globally, with around 11,000 people diagnosed nationally each
5year; and
AJR75,1,86 Whereas, according to the the Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness Campaign,
7neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often develop into cancer and, if left untreated, can
8result in serious illness and death; and
AJR75,1,119 Whereas, the NET Cancer Awareness Campaign notes that neuroendocrine
10tumors can manifest myriad clinical symptoms, many of which are nonspecific and
11vague; and
AJR75,1,1412 Whereas, early and accurate diagnosis, recognition of the malignant and
13metastatic potential of neuroendocrine tumors, and access to treatment is vital to
14survival for NET cancer patients; and

1Whereas, with timely detection and proper treatment, NET cancer patients can
2have significantly improved outcomes and quality of life; and
AJR75,2,43 Whereas, the theme for the second Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness Day is
4early detection of NET cancers; now, therefore, be it
AJR75,2,9 5Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
6legislature proclaims November 10, 2011, to be Worldwide NET Cancer Awareness
7Day and encourages patients, caregivers, health care professionals, and the wider
8community to raise awareness about NET cancers and the need for timely diagnosis
9and access to optimal treatment and care.
