AJR96,1,43 Whereas, the Wisconsin Wetlands Association (WWA) has been awarded the
42012 Wetland Conservation Award by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands; and
AJR96,1,65 Whereas, the WWA was selected for this honor because of the organization's
6outstanding achievements in the area of wetland education; and
AJR96,1,87 Whereas, the WWA is the first recipient of this prestigious award from the
8United States; and
AJR96,1,109 Whereas, wetlands reduce flooding, improve water quality, and increase
10hunting, fishing, and recreation spending; and
AJR96,1,1211 Whereas, Wisconsin has historically done a better job than our neighboring
12states in protecting and preserving wetlands; and
AJR96,1,1413 Whereas, the WWA's "Wetland Gems" program recognizes and promotes 100
14high-quality Wisconsin wetland sites; and

1Whereas, the WWA's "Wetland Gems" program has increased public
2appreciation for all of Wisconsin's wetlands; now, therefore, be it
AJR96,2,6 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature honor the Wisconsin Wetlands Association for its
5contributions to preserving Wisconsin's wetlands and congratulate the organization
6on earning the international 2012 Wetland Conservation Award.
