AR26,1,2 1Relating to: privatization of custodial workers at the capitol and executive office
2buildings.
AR26,1,43 Whereas, the department of administration is planning to privatize custodial
4services at the capitol and executive office buildings; and
AR26,1,65 Whereas, we acknowledge that throughout the history of the state, these
6essential jobs have been held by state employees; and
AR26,1,97 Whereas, Ingeborg Sidwell, a washer-woman and custodial worker at the
8capitol, was instrumental in personally lobbying Governor Goodland to approve the
9law that created the modern Wisconsin Retirement System in 1943; and
AR26,1,1110 Whereas, we recognize the hard work of these dedicated public employees who
11keep our offices clean and assist whenever needed; and
AR26,1,1312 Whereas, over the years many legislators and staff have developed personal
13relationships with custodial staff; and
AR26,1,1514 Whereas, we have all benefited from the professional manner with which the
15state custodial staff execute their duties; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly oppose any
2move to convert or replace current state custodial workers at the capitol and
3executive office buildings with private workers.
