Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
2011 Wisconsin Act 43 provides for the decennial apportionment and
redistricting of legislative districts as required by article IV, section 3, of the state
constitution. The act first applies, with respect to special and recall elections, to
offices filled or contested concurrently with the 2012 general election.
This bill provides that Act 43 first applies with respect to special and recall
elections for the office of representative to the assembly held concurrently with the
2012 general election and with respect to special and recall elections for the office of
senator held on or after November 9, 2011. The bill also provides that Act 43 first
applies, with respect to petitions for the recall of senators, to petitions filed on or after
November 9, 2011.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB268, s. 1 4Section 1. 2011 Wisconsin Act 43, section 10 (2) is amended to read:
