SR22,1,2 To amend senate rule 18 (1m); relating to: prohibiting waiver of public hearing requirement for bills placed on a calendar.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current senate rules, no bill may be placed on a calendar that has not received a public hearing. The committee on senate organization, however, may waive that requirement. Under the resolution, the committee on senate organization may not waive the requirement that a bill receive a public hearing before being placed on a calendar.

SR22, s. 1 Section 1. Senate rule 18 (1m) is amended to read:

SR22,1,7 Senate Rule 18 (1m) Notwithstanding sub. (1) and rule 41 (1) (c), no bill may be placed on a calendar that has not received a public hearing. The committee on senate organization may waive the public hearing requirement under this subsection.
