AB201,1,2 1An Act to create 36.11 (47m) of the statutes; relating to: giving certain veterans
2priority in registering for courses at the University of Wisconsin System.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill directs the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin (UW)
System to ensure that resident students who are veterans are given priority in
registering for courses at any UW campus.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB201,1 3Section 1. 36.11 (47m) of the statutes is created to read:
AB201,1,74 36.11 (47m) Veterans; priority registration. (a) In this subsection, "veteran"
5means a person who has served on active duty under honorable conditions in the U.S.
6armed forces, in forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed forces, in the national
7guard, or in a reserve component of the U.S. armed forces.
AB201,1,98 (b) The board shall ensure that a resident student who is a veteran is given
9priority in registering for courses at any college campus or institution.

1Section 2. Initial applicability.
AB201,2,32 (1) This act first applies to registration for courses offered in the first semester
3beginning after the effective date of this subsection.
